Troia Cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin. Built in the first quarter of the 12th century, it is reckoned a masterpiece of Apulian Romanesque architecture and is particularly noted for the rose window and the bronze doors of the west front.
Unlike San Nicola in Bari or Trani's cathedral, Troia cathedral is designed with broad proportions and with a blind fa�ade arcade punctuated by inlaid decorative motifs within its arches. They derive from Tuscan Romanesque architecture, particularly from the elevations of Pisa cathedral.
